[Subject's Note: Okay, so this is my weekly, after date night post... it's just almost a week late. "I love deadlines, I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by." -Douglas Adams]
Okay, so it's rare that a day starts off great, stays great and ends on a great note too but I now know that they're not myths: Kevin M. Williams can have a completely good day. It's shocking, I know but apparently, it only takes Qdoba, at-work visitation and a compliment that's technically not even directed at me along with a little thunder and lightning and laughs and there you have it... instant good day. Oh, and for the record:
When a person meets your girlfriend and while just out of her vision asks you if that's your girl and when you confirm, they grin and mouth the words, "Holy Shit! Good Job!" while giving you the thumbs up sign... it's a good sign.
So, Wednesday's date night started off earlier than usual with the fact that Elsa was off today. Which means that she was able to have lunch with me at work in addition to our usual after work date activities. Today, a lunch at Qdoba was just the distraction that I needed to get me out of the stone-faced serious mood that work's been putting me in lately as I have been taking on a lot of projects now that my "boss" is gone. After the lunch, Elli came back to work and hung out with me in the office while I worked, and it was nice to have the company. After introducing her to a couple of co-workers (and a particularly funny moment with Matt and James) she inevitably had to head out to get her errands done before the actual date night part of the day.
Now, amazingly, Elsa had another surprise in store for me. I've never been a big fan of the Lego games. They were enjoyable, but none of them have been must play. However, when they announced the Lego Pirates of the Caribbean game, I was all for it. Plus, it came with a Lego Jack Sparrow (CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow) figure. I reserved it and was looking forward to eventually picking it up. Elsa in her "errands" decided to pick up the Lego Pirates game for me as well as reserve another game that I was pretty excited about, LA Noire. (I have an awesome girlfriend, by the way...!)
Now, for the record, Thor was never a favorite comic book for me, but I've been doing research on the comics before going to see the movies just so I'd have some limited back story and understand why some things are significant. And the Thor movie was pretty good, enjoyable and also kinda funny as well, with some effective running gags that made the movie even funnier to me.
All in all, the night was nice and relaxing day, filled with laughter and surprises. As I sit here, thinking back over the events of the last few months, I can that I haven't been this relaxed and happy in a while. Here's to breaking the rules and disproving the age old adage that "All good things must come to an end." (crosses fingers)
After all, this wouldn't be the first impossible task that I've tackled this year, right?
